Justice & Mercy in Our Present World - Do you think that mercy and justice can co-exist?
In my opinion, I feel that justice and mercy can co-exist in this world. I find that justice and mercy go hand in hand with each other. In society, punishment is dealt to those who break the law, however there is mercy in these punishments. This mercy is actually one of the key essences of justice, in which it is the line which is drawn between justice and revenge. Without mercy, what difference would justice be from revenge? An eye for an eye, is that not revenge in its true form? Dealing back the pain which was dealt to you? Two wrongs do not make a right, and the society recognizes this, showing mercy to prevent abuse of justice.
As I see it, the whole purpose of having justice is actually to act as a deterrent for society to not act like these convicts, breaking the law. Justice is a punishment for those who go against it and it acts to ensure that these criminals get their just desserts, to feel the pinch for their wrong doings. Also, justice also seeks to correct these criminals of their wrong doings and hope they will turn over a new leaf.
However, there is a limit to the amount of mercy one can show. In my opinion, repeat offenders deserve no mercy. The court has already showed them mercy the first time they were convicted, however they refused to change their ways, and as the saying goes, 'a leopard will never change its spots'. They have already been given a chance, and they abused it. As such, full punishment should be dealt, and the only mercy is the one which the convict treats himself with.
From the above, it is possible to see that there mercy and justice can co-exist in society, however there are exceptions to this.

Term 3 Week 4 Assignment Shylock
In my opinion, the purpose of Shakespeare creating Shylock was to add more drama into his play, and to make it more realistic. In the era where Shakespeare created this play, anti-semitism was almost at its peak. By creating characters to portray the different aspects of people we see today, it is adding to the realistic aspect of the whole play. At that era, christianity was the most common religion there was, and as being a Jew was said to be anti-christian and to be cruxifiying Jesus, the Christians hated the Jews, and the Jews were portrayed by the Christians to be the 'bad guys'. As such, by introducing the character Shylock into the play, Shakespeare is actually trying to make his play more popular as at that time, there were a lot more Christians than Jews, this makes it such that a play which is anti-jew would be more popular than a play that showed regular people having problems around factors of money, love, life and death.
Also, we cannot rule out the fact that Shakespeare may have created this play to show his feelings towards the Jews. Shakespeare is an accomplished play maker and maybe, by creating Shylock, he is trying to show the world that he actually agrees with what most Christians say and that Jews are evil. He may just be expressing his points of view through his play. Or maybe, the play may actually be trying to show how the Jews are not so different from the Christians and we are all normal people, and that he is trying to impart a value to the world, which is to not be treat people with different people with different religions differently, as they are as normal as you. “I am a Jew. Hath not a Jew eyes? Hath not a Jew hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections, passions? … If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge? The villainy you teach me I will execute, and it shall go hard but I will better the instruction.” Jews are people, they have feelings too. So, is Shakespeare pro Jew, or anti Jew, that is the question.

Term 3 Week 4 Assignment
To raise a global kid, what this article is trying to tell us about is the change in the mindset of people on how to educate their children. They are starting to feel that education is important, instead of just having morals. As shown by Jim Rogers, who brings his daughter to Singapore's Nanyang Primary School for her just to study. This is due to the fact that he has seen that education is important in preparing his child for the future.
In this fast paced world, one must have to continuously strive in order to move forward. Failure to do so will just set you back. As such, one must work hard for the future in order to obtain the best. This is what all parents would want for their children... To obtain the best possible life for their child. As such, they feel that a good education is one of the key aspects of getting a good job. Morals play a part too, but in current day society, education is the top dog. One will not be able to go far without the right qualifications and the right material, and as such modern parents strive to give their children all which they need to obtain a better future.
However, the article also argues which type of education is the best. In Roger's case, being billingual is important to obtain a good job. In my opinion, the best type of education would be the one that fits your passion and aptitude. It should help you to achieve what you want, because that way, you will give your best, and succeeding in life would be a walk in the park, or in Singaporean terms, 'No Kick'.

Term 3 Week 3 Assignment
After reading Janelle Lee's letter, she has widened my insight on the way schools are run nowadays. She has allowed me to see many of the flaws in our education system which we have overlooked. She has brought to light some of the major flaws which our education system faces, from the fact that all we do is memorize facts from the textbooks, hardly understanding why, to the teaching of moral education, a subject which we all have an experience in.
Janelle actually only has two main points in her letter. The first would be directed at the way schools teach right now. Nowadays in schools, teachers spend countless of hours getting us to memorize facts, and most of the times, students follow this without question. The main reason for this is that memorizing facts is the fastest way to achieve good results, and both parties know this. However, there will always be these one or two inquisitive ones who will probe with the question why. However, instead of answering them, what do some teachers do? They shoo them off. Even though this is not true everywhere, it happens in Singapore, and still happens. I feel that what Janelle says is very true, and I agree with her.
The next point which Janelle talked about, is about the way we learn our civics and moral education. Almost all of us have had the experience of being thought this lesson in a classroom, however is this really the way to teach it? With a whiteboard, a textbook and a workbook filled with instructional pictures and fill in the blank questions? Is this really the best method to teach us how to be gracious? To be nice? To do the right thing? How can books give us a sense of what is right? Shouldn't it come naturally?
Which with the above points she has made, I agree with the letter which she has sent whole-heartedly. She shows a lot of insight for a secondary four student.
Finally, with all that, I feel that an ideal education program is possible. The only set back to this would be the problem which man has faced throughout the centuries... Time. If we wanted to, everything could be done. The only problem about this is time. Without time nothing is possible, and thus, I feel if the government could spend more time in this aspect, the education program would be more ideal.

The Religion Of Water
Water, second to air, is one of the things which humans require to survive. It is essential to get enough water everyday so as to keep ourselves hydrated. Without water, the human race would cease to exist, and all multi-cellular organisms would disappear from the face of the earth. As such we can tell that water important for survival, and the very existence of it keeps us alive. So therefore it is questionable whether water should be treated as a commodity, as it is now, or a human right. In my opinion, it should be a human right.
Water is essential to our survival. Every person has the right to live, so why is it that only rich people have access to water. Water should be a human right. If water were to cost money, then poorer people who have little to no money to spend on water would die. If the suppliers refuse to give water to these poor people, and as a result they die, what difference does this make from murder? The suppliers are literally causing the deaths of these people. Although this would cause a small change in the economy, I feel it is worth it as lives are saved.
Next, water should be a human right as there is plenty of water for everyone. The world is made up mostly of water, and as such there is plenty of water to supply us human beings for the next few milleniums. Although some of this water is undrinkable, all it takes is a little purification, and it will be drinkable then. The earth is currently facing the problem of rising sea levels, so why do humans still have to be so stringent and drag money into the matter of getting water. If more water was consumed, maybe the water levels would go down a bit?
However there are some plus sides from making water a commodity. One of which would be that people would value it more. Since water costs some of people's hard earned money, they would be more careful and value water more. They try to use as little water as possible so as to save up some money. Water although is plenty, is a valuable resource, and thus by making water a commodity, it allows people to value water more, and try to reduce their water consumption.
With the above points, I therefore conclude that water should be a human right. Although by making it a commodity, the world is able to save up some precious water, however the plus sides outweigh the cons for making it a human right. If it were not a human right, lives would die for nothing.

Term 3 Week 1 Assignment
In my opinion, maids should be given day offs while working in Singapore. There are 3 reasons why I feel that it should be this way. The first is that like any other working adults, maids should be given holidays, or 'leave' days to rest. Secondly, the maid's mental health will suffer if they were to be cooped up in a house all day. Finally, if no holidays were to be given, lesser people would be willing to be maids due to the lousy working conditions.
In my opinion, maids should be given holidays as they are normal people like everybody else, they need breaks and rest days. Maids are not robots. They have emotions too. If maids were to work everyday without any breaks at all, not only will their health take a turn for the worse, their mental health will too. This not only is a bad thing for their owners as they will have to pay for the maid's medical fee, but the maid will suffer too. Therefore, having rest day for the maids is important.
Next, maids should be given holidays as if they do not, their mental health will worsen as they will be forever cooped up in the house they are taking care off. Constantly staying at home may mean that more work gets down, but as such the maid's mental health may worsen. It is like living in a jail cell. The maid already is separated from her family, but to also be separated from the whole outside world is a fate just about as bad as being in jail, and the maid does not deserve such treatment. They have human rights and thus they should also be given holidays.
Finally, maids should be given holidays as lesser people would be willing to become maids without them. They would be less willing to work as maid's in Singapore as they know that being a maid in other countries gives them roughly the same pay but with better working conditions. This will result in the increase of hiring a maid. The increase cost of hiring a maid would mean that the owners will not be as nice to them, and the cycle will just repeat until nobody wants to work as a maid before, and by then, more problems will arise.
With the above reasons, I strong feel that maids should be given holidays.

Term 2 Week 5 Assignment
The school rules were created to ensure the safety of the students, and to a certain effect play a part in allowing students to do their best in their studies without any disturbances. However over the years, many school rules have been created that play no part in the above points I have mentioned. Thus, should the students be given more freedom in the decision of the school rules? In my opinion they should.
Firstly, the school rules over the years have been getting more and more ridiculous. Some of the rules created play no part in either the safety or the well being of the students. Rules like the disallowing of wearing ankle socks or head gear play no part to the students safety or their ability to focus in class. Also, shouldn't the students have the right to decide on how they dress when they come to school? Furthermore, these rules play no part in our world as in the future, when the students step out of school, they will still one day wear ankle socks or have head gear on. So why do the schools disapprove of this? Therefore, students should have a say in the decision of the school rules.
Secondly, the school rules nowadays have been created from the point of view of the teachers and principles. The rules are created in just their perspective and not from the students perspective. The teachers may find that this rule will be beneficial for the students, however from the student's perspective, it does not help out much and may even be harmful or simply an extra step that the students have to do now. Rules like the pinning of buttons on our school uniforms may seem like adding to the uniqueness of the uniform to the teachers/principals, however they actually add to the hassle to rush to school every morning. If the rules were looked at from the perspective of the students, it is possible to see than some of the rules are redundant and abolishing them brings no harm to the students and may even help them cope with the stressful life style of school nowadays by reducing the work load. Therefore, students should be allowed to have a say in the decision of the school rules.
Finally, the school rules were created to help the students. Maintaining discipline and order. The creator of these rules are old, and their thinking may not be the same as how the younger generation. This age gap makes their thinking different. The young generation should have a say in the decision of school rules as they are the ones who know themselves the best. The school makes rules that maybe would have been very effective maybe 20 years ago, but time has passed and like time, the rules must change. In my opinion, the students should decide in the rules, as they will truly be able to understand how each other is like, far better than any teacher or principal can. These adults spend too much time indulging in their work and rarely see the true problems students face. Thus I feel that students should have a say in the making of school rules, as they know themselves best.
With the above points I can thereby conclude that students should be given a say in the decision of the school rules.

HOME BASED LEARNING
Poem 2: Rainbow Death
This small poem is about how chemical compounds created by us were used to cause death and suffering. The compound caused a lot of death. It not only affected its intended victims, the Vietnamese people, but even the service personnel that used or came into contact with this compound. The production of these compounds have also caused dioxins to be produced as a contaminant which have caused numerous health problems to those who have been exposed to it. This poem seeks to remind us that even though the war is over, the after damage has not ended yet.
The point of view is from a native american who disagree with what his nation is doing as he feels it is not right. Evidence from the text is: 'Nefariously America led astray - Generations untold WILL pay'.
The situation and setting is during a war, at the author of the poem's home. Evidence from the text is: 'America did not foresee. Green, pink, purple and other colors death potpourri!'.
In 'Nefariously America led astray - Generations untold WILL pay -', the poet is repeating the 'ay' sound to emphasize on the fact that it is confirmed that the Americans will pay. In 'Toll on the innocent and unborn. Omnipotent and disregarding who will mourn.' the repetition of the 'orn' sounds behind every sentence is trying to show the pain that the people of that time faced, as 'orn' sounds like a person groaning.
From the poem, I have learnt of the harmful effects of war and how the selfishness of the human race has caused other people to feel immense pain and suffering. The poem gives me a certain insight of one of the things that happened during the war. The poem brings out how humanity is cruel and it shows that our cruelness will in the end be our ultimate downfall. It brings out the aspect of the phrase 'do to others what you want others to do to you'. Innocent people have been affected by the selfish plots of others.

Term 2 Lesson 3
Report on World War II:
World War 2 was a battle that affected most of the world. It lasted from 1939 to 1945. There were 2 teams in this world war, the Allies and the Axis. It was the most deadliest war in human history, resulting in 40 million to over 70 million innocent people to die.
Although the actual confirmed starting date of the war was on the 1st of September 1939, however before that date, there were already a numerous amount of small wars. Firstly, there was the invasion of Ethiopia. It was a brief colonial war. It started in October 1935 and ended in May 1936. Then there was the Spanish Civil War. This war was generally for Germany, Italy and Spain to test drive their weapons. Then there was the Japanese Invasion of China, then the Soviet Union and finally, Mongolia. The event before the war actually started was the European occupation and agreements.
On 1st September 1939, Germany and Slovakia attacked Poland. On 3rd September 1939 France and Britain, followed by the countries of the Commonwealth declared war on Germany but provided little support to Poland other than a small French Attack. On 17th September 1939, after signing a pact with Japan, the Soviets also invaded Poland. Though Poland was divided by Germany, the Soviet Union, Lithuania and Slovakia, the Poles didn't surrender and established an underground state and continued to fight outside Poland. In a Romanian operation, some 120,000 Polish troops were evacuated to France, along with much of the Polish Air Force and Poland's Enigma Codebreakers. During this time, Japan launched its first attack against Changsha, a strategically important Chinese city, but was repulsed by late September.

Following the invasion of Poland and a German - Soviet treaty about governing Lithuania, the Soviet Union forced the Baltic Countries to allow it to station Soviet troops in their countries under pacts of "mutual assistance." Finland rejected territorial demands and was invaded by the Soviet Union in November 1939. The resulting conflict ended in March 1940 with Finnish concessions. France and the United Kingdom, treating the Soviet attack on Finland as tantamount to entering the war on the side of the Germans, responded to the Soviet invasion by supporting the USSR's expulsion from the League of Nations.
Next, the Axis advances, and soon the war becomes global. After awhile of fighting, the Axis advancement stalls. Due to this stall, the Allies managed to gain momentum and win some crucial fights. The Allies manage to close in and soon, the Axis collapses and the Allies win the war.

Term 2 Week 4 Assignments.
With the recent chain of events which has happened in Japan, it is right to say that nuclear energy is dangerous, and in my opinion, it should be banned and not used on earth. The effects of a nuclear crisis are unimaginable. Not only would this generation be scarred permanently, future generations will also be affected as their parents have already been affected by radiation. Although the usage of nuclear energy opens up many oppurtunities for the world, the amount of destruction it brings with it is simply way more than the benefits it provides.
Secondly, building a nuclear power plant is like gambling. You are gambling your life away for that moment of income. Although the chances of a natural disaster striking a country is significantly lower than the chance of losing in a game of poker, the losses you face are much more than gambling, not only may you lose your life, millions of other innocent lives are going down with you.
Finally, nuclear power may bring a lot of benefits, but in the wrong hands, it is a weapon of unimaginable destruction. Nuclear bombs have already been invented as a weapon. This weapon, in the hands of terrorists, the amount of destruction from it is simply unimaginable. A guy with a gun may be deadly, but a mad man with a bomb is 10 times worse as his presence will be felt in an area.
With the above points, I feel that nuclear power is simply too dangerous for us humans to handle. The destructive potential cause by it is simply chaotic, and could end our already imperfect world in a matter of seconds. The chance of it going out of control may be low, but all it takes is one accident, one unlucky day, or one crazed maniac to end our entire civilisation as we know it.

Term 2 Lesson 2: War - A personal Response
"Ahhhhhhh!' Pain filled the soldiers. It was so painful that it was comparable to childbirth, maybe even worse. Soldiers laid on the floor, groaning in pain. The lucky ones could still move around and feel the pain of their wounds. The unlucky ones, however, were already numb from the pain, without the ability to move their aching muscles, they laid on the floor, awaiting death.
But the soldiers were all still filled with hope, they were just tired. They hoped that the war would end, and hoped that their country would come out victorious. They worried for their country, they worried for their future, but most importantly, they worried for their families. Their worried wifes and hungry children that were not deformed.
Gunshots could be heard in the distance. Screams of pain and the sounds of grenades blowing people up. War is a terrible thing. It brings disharmony. It disrupts peace and could leave you in pieces. However, it is inevitable. People are selfish, and this brings war. But is it worth it to disrupt the lives of millions of people just for the benefit of one place?
Soldiers laid on the floor, tired from the everlasting fight for freedom and dignity, but still willing to give their all. As the burning ball in the sky sets over the flaming orange sky, the soldiers rest their aching muscles and relentless spirits. They know that the war has no intention of ending, but tomorrow will be a better day.

Term 2 Online Lesson 1: Crisis in Japan
Dear Drake ,
Hey Bro! It's been a long time since I last wrote to you. I'm sure you know what has happened back here. I find that you are very fortunate to have immigrated just before the earthquake hit Japan. The situation here is like a living hell right now. Many buildings were razed, many bodies swept out to sea, even our favorite playground has been destroyed. Luckily, everyone in our family is safe and sound. But more problems are awaiting us. Right now, we have no homes as they were all destroyed. Our food source is gone too as the supermarket has been razed. Japan is in a state almost as bad as hell right now. Right now, even as you are reading this, many bodies are being found in the sea. The death toll is high, very high. Right now, Japan is just a more glorified version of a graveyard.
But, we will not lose hope. For our home, we will do all that we can to help. Right now our parents, uncles and aunts are all participating in the search for lives under the debris of the fallen buildings. Other countries have heard our desperate calls for help. Many countries have sent us food, water and man power. I've even heard that Singapore is aiding us too. You should be thankful to be living in such a wonderful place with helpful people. I wish I could join you there but now, I shall stay here and assist the others and do my part for Japan. Our hopes are now in our own hands and I will do what I can. Brother, do not be worried. I will not let anything happen to mom and dad. I will make sure they are alright, in fact, I will make sure our whole family stays together in this time of need. I will do all I can to keep them safe.
Well brother, I think I shall stop here. To make a long story short, there is nothing to worry about. So bro, just focus on your studies. Everything here is going to be okay. I promise.
Yours Sincerely,
Tiger

Blended Learning Assignment Term 1 Week 8
Student's Experience :
Its the start of a new school year and everything seems to be going smoothly. I sit in the hall listening to the headmaster talk about all the amazing things this school has accomplished. I try to blend in with the surroundings. After listening to the boring headmaster for awhile, I finally get to leave the hall and proceed to my new home, the dorm. I have a decent room mate. That's a relief. He however does have a very egoistic friend. After introducing myself, I hope we can be friends and this school year will be breeze. But for now, I'll just focus on fitting in.
Parent's Experience :
The headmaster begins his long speech, trying to assure me that I am making a good decision sending my son here. I hope I am making the right decision too. After the long talk, shake hands with him and head off to find out more about the curriculum and the things that my child will experience here. I only want the best for my son so hopefully he will become the smart doctor I have always wanted to be. I must make sure he focuses on his studies and is not distracted by other activities. After all, studies always come first.

Term 1 Week 7 Assignment
REFLECTION OF LA LESSON :D
Times flies when you're having fun, and in the blink of an eye, it's already week 7. 7 weeks of fun lessons have passed and term 1 is ending soon. I have experienced 6-7 weeks of Language Arts lesson with my strong and handsome teacher. This blog post shall be dedicated to all his lessons, and will be my thoughts of them.
Over the weeks , he has thought us the various parts of a short story. He has thought us how to write a fruitful story and has guided us on writing our short stories. He has thought us about writing settings and describing people via the big word "CHARACTERIZATION". He has thought us the art of pronunciation by teaching us the art of pronouncing pronunciation, and corrected us on the master bed room. He has also imparted his knowledge of how not to hand in homework late by doing it early.
I think that the most interesting lesson I've had would be the lesson where we analyzed the characters and examined the various traits they had. We presented on the traits they had and it was interesting to see the different point of views that our class had. Overall I find the lessons very fruitful.
However , all good things have to come to an end, and like justin bieber's career , the end is drawing near. However, I shall not fret as I still have three more terms to go so technically, every end is a new beginning...

Story Excerpt: SpongeBob SquarePants
The early morning underwater sun roze from behind the coral shells in Bikini Bottom. The rays of light shone on SpongeBob's bed. "TOTOOOOO!!!!!!!" . It was SpongeBob's alarm clock! "GOOD MORNING WORLD!!!!!!" SpongeBob yelled as he leaped off his bed. "GOOD MORNING GARY!!!" he said to his pet snail. "Meow..." Gary whined, unhappy to be woken from his slumber. SpongeBob raced down his hall into his bathroom the brush his 2 squarish teeth. After that he made his way back to his room. Looking at his clock he said "better not be late for work Gary, its going to be a busy day today." He got dressed into his squarepants and immediately left his pine apple house.
"GOOD MORNING SQUIDWARD!!!!! YOU BETTER HURRY UP OR YOUR'E GONNA BE LATE FOR WORK!!!!!" SpongeBob yelled as he passed his neighbour and colleague , Squidward's house. He began marching happily to the krusty crab, screaming " I'M READY!!!!" repeatedly, and saying hi to everyone he met on the way, including people he didn't even know. This was a typical scene in Bikini Bottom , and everyone wouldn't want to have it any other way...
Term 1 Week 5 Assignment
"Pitter-Patter, Pitter-Patter..." Raindrops fall like bullets from a machine gun. The howling winds shook the trees and leaves flew around like fire-flies. The sky was as dark as my father's face when my brother screwed something up. It was a raining day in Hwa Chong. The air was cool and damp. Students everywhere had mixed feelings. Some enjoyed the cooling weather while others were sad as the rain meant that they could not play sports. Meanwhile... The field had turned into a girl's nightmare. It was muddy , dirty and the earthworms had come out of the soil and were crawling everywhere. If you looked closely enough, you could see a colony of ants making their way up and down the terraces. Tiny critters of all shapes and sizes moved around, taking advantage of the cool weather to enjoy themselves. Many times we look out of the window and see a raining day, but a pity we do not see the eco-system hiding behind the greenery. But if you look closely and pay close enough attention, you can see the true beauty of our green earth.

Term 1 Week 4 Assignment
My favorite part of the school would be my technical third home, the track. I spend a lot of time here as this is where I have my CCA. My CCA is very time consuming and thus I spend most of my time here. It is here I bond with my fellow CCA mates and we go true the torture of CCA together.
The track is also where we assemble every morning. We stand there and sing the national anthem and the school song on Mondays. It is here that we all gather as a school to remind us that we are united. That 15 minutes there everyday adds up to a lot of time in a year.
It is also at the track where most sports related activities take place. Such as our school's cross country run, the HCI-NYGH Annual Sports Meet and many others. The field is a place that many of us will remember after leaving school as it is a place where many memories will be formed, whether its when we get into trouble and have to stand in front of the school, whether its when we grit our teeth and go true gruesome training or whether its running with some

Comic Strip : Dont be Racist

Term 1 Week 3 Assignment
Before saying anything , let me just say sorry for handing in this late.
Okay now to me , I find this song very meaning full. It is talking about how selfish people are , thinking only about themselves. Selfish people lead to wars and countries doing things which kill many innocent people. Selfish people lead to terrorists bombings , killing people. Selfish people do things to make their lives easier , better or cause they just like it. They don't think about what bad things they are bringing to others people. As everyone has been selfish once in their lives , so this song by the Black Eyed Peas is here to remind us that we should not be selfish. It brings harm. This song also tells us about how some people , in order to earn a quick buck , polluting nature. More green house gases , killing our earth. This song constantly reminds us that we only have one place to make friends on , one place to thrive on , and only one place to call home. That is our place , our home , mother earth. If we do not take care of her , we risk losing her , and our one and only home, and without that, in simple words we're screwed.
So , in my opinion , I think that this song is constantly telling us we can't be selfish. It causes other people to be hurt. It also hurts our one and only home. So to make a long story short , don't be selfish (:

Term 1 Week 2 Weekend Assignment
A song that I have recently heard that has impacted me would be "Pray" by Justin Bieber. I like this song a lot as this is the only song he has written that doesn't show him as a lesbian involve girls (: Here are the lyrics :
Ohh Ohh Ohh .. and I pray
I just cant sleep tonight.
Knowing that things aint right.
Its in the papers, its on the tv, its everywhere that I go.
Children are crying.
Soldiers are dying
Some people don't have a home
But I know there's sunshine behind that rain
I know there's good times behind that pain, hey
Can you tell me how I can make a change
I close my eyes and I can see a better day
I close my eyes and pray
I close my eyes and I can see a better day
I close my eyes and pray
I lose my appetite, knowing kids starve tonight.
And when I sit up, cause my dinner is still on my plate.
Ooo I got a vision, to make a difference.
And its starting today.
Cause I know there's sunshine behind that rain
I know there's good times behind that pain, hey
Haven`t tell me how I can make a change
I close my eyes and I can see a better day
I close my eyes and pray
I close my eyes and I can see a better day
I close my eyes and pray
For the broken-hearted.
I pray for the life not started
I pray for all the ones not breathing.
I pray for all the souls in need.
I pray. Can you give em one today.
I just cant sleep tonight
Can someone tell how to make a change?
I close my eyes and I can see a better day
I close my eyes and pray
I close my eyes and I can see a better day
I close my eyes and I pray
I pray ..
I close my eyes and pray ..
This song is has impacted me in such a way that it has made me see more of the problems other people in other parts of the world are facing , and it makes me realize how fortunate Singapore is. We have food and water while in other countries , there are people with no homes , food or water. This song also makes me want to do my part for society and help those countries which are in need. It also makes me realize how fortunate Singapore is to be safe from wars. However those countries which are currently participating in war , or any other acts of violence are just wasting the precious and limited resources of the earth , causing more green house gases and consequently bringing us closer to the end of the world or '2012'..
Also , from the wars and violence in other countries , many people are left with no homes. I cannot imagine myself living in the streets with no electricity at night and no computer for facebook.... Also , due to war many innocent people are dieing for almost no reason as if there was no war , these people would be getting on with their normal lives. They wouldn't have to live in fear of dieing or their family members dieing. Some people take an eternity to forget about their lost loved ones in war and even longer to forgive the people that cause it. It is painful to lose a family member , and it is really painful (physically) to be shot.
Finally , I feel that the thing that Singapore really is fortunate for is the fact that Singapore is seemingly safe from natural disasters. Wars and lack of food and water can all be prevented by having measure such as peace treaties and a good government so that the people won't go hungry , however natural disasters like floods , volcanoes, droughts , earthquakes , etc etc , cannot be prevented. However , they can be felt. I hope all those who hear this song will have a drive to help those in need.
